Talia Green, a sophomore at College Prep High in Oakland, Calif., was the second American finisher in the women's 10,000-meter racewalk after clocking a lifetime-best 49:31.54 at the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Green placed third overall in the race behind Valeriya Sholomitska of Ukraine, who elevated to the No. 2 World Under-20 competitor this year at 46:46.97, and U.S. junior Angelica Harris of Illinois at 49:29.73. Green, the No. 3 all-time U.S. high school performer, ascended to No. 15 among World Under-20 athletes this year. It marked the first time a non-American athlete had been allowed to compete in an outdoor national meet at any level, along with the first in any U.S. championship meet since indoor events in the 1990s.
